The Department of Transport and Regional Economics of the University of Antwerp will host a one-day international Air Transport Colloquium on Friday 11 December 2009, under the theme ‘Potential strategies to solve the air transport crisis’. The colloquium focuses on the impact of the current economic and financial crisis, the challenges that face the air transport sector, and the reaction patterns of the different actors.
Invited colloquium speakers are affiliated to academic research institutes, airlines, airports, airport service providers and authorities/governments.
Topics dealt with are:
- Downsizing, networking and survival strategies of airlines
- Airport recovery initiatives
- The opportunities of air freight
- The role a government can play in air transport recovery
- Ground handling and service provider reaction patterns
The day concludes with a panel discussion with all important market players and conference participants. All attendants are invited to actively participate in the discussion. During the lectures and panel discussions, ample opportunity shall be provided for interaction between the speakers and the audience.
This colloquium is intended for all actors involved in the passenger and freight transport business, as well as for academic researchers and consultants active in the sector.
