Dear Colleagues,
This is to invite you to participate in the International Conference on Knowledge in Small and Medium Sized Towns: Towns as a place of knowledge and diffusion. The conference will be held on the 4th and 5th of December 2008 at the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal.
The aim of this conference is to focuses on the possible contribution of towns to rural development by acting as a place of knowledge creation and diffusion in order to avoid processes of decline and promote a geographically balanced and sustainable development in rural areas.

The main research topics of this Conference will be:
Networks and Public-private Partnership;
Local Entrepreneurship and Globalisation;
Technological Developments, Innovation and Knowledge Spillovers;
Urban-rural Interdependencies;
Citizenship and Governance Models;
Future Trends for Knowledge Creation and Diffusion.
